Working Together Against Crime

Last month, one of the area’s hospitality businesses unfortunately experienced the theft of large containers of oil from an outdoor storage area. The business promptly informed BakerStreetQ of the incident, and CCTV and details were uploaded to Alert, our intelligence sharing platform.

Using this information, Safer Business Network was able to link the offence to an identical theft in Leicester Square, helping to build a wider picture of the criminal activity. A briefing has been shared to hospitality venues in the area, and Police are continuing enquiries to identify the individual responsible.

In a separate incident, a store on Chiltern Street experienced repeated shoplifting, with the same individual reportedly targeting the store on three consecutive occasions. The Street Team supported the business and encouraged police reporting. Despite limited photographic evidence and no CCTV, our team obtained an additional image of the suspect from the side and uploaded it to Alert. Safer Business Network liaised with Police, who have now positively identified the individual, and the local Safer Neighbourhoods Team has been made aware.

This work highlights the value of timely crime reporting, effective information sharing and strong multi-agency partnership working.

While Marylebone continues to be a low-crime area compared to other central London districts, we’re keen to keep it that way. Always report all crime to the Police (call 999 in an emergency or call 101 or report online if it isn’t an emergency). Incidents can also be reported to the Street Team to support intelligence gathering.
