Westminster City Council’s Oxford Street Programme will be implementing a new Highway scheme on Wigmore Street from its junction with Langham Place / Regent Street to the junction with Great Titchfield Street in the East. The key elements of the scheme are as follows:
- Provide two-way traffic movement along Wigmore Street, Cavendish Square and Cavendish Place between Wimpole Street and Langham Place/Regent Street, in order to improve traffic flow
- Improve pedestrian crossing provisions at Wimpole Street, Harley Street, Chandos Street, and Langham Place
- Reduce Street clutter
Works are scheduled to begin on 11 March, with final completion in Spring 2025. Construction will take place during the hours of 08:00 – 18:00, Monday – Friday, and on Saturdays from 08:00 – midday (when necessary).
Various local traffic lane restrictions and closures / diversions will be required for the duration of the project, affecting the Wimpole Street, Harley Street, and Chandos Street junctions to facilitate the new traffic signal infrastructure and associated utility diversionary works.
