Street Team Working With The Police
30 September 2024
Our Operations and Street Teams have recently undertaken walkabouts with some of the local Police and crime prevention teams. Our collaborative efforts are focused on creating a safer, more secure environment for everyone and the walkabouts are opportunities to identify problematic areas, promote awareness, share intelligence, conduct community engagement and enhanced visibility.
Earlier this month saw another of the Street Team’s regular walkabouts with the Paddington British Transport Police taking place in the area around Marylebone station. They highlighted areas of concern and discussed the support that the Police team could offer in terms of intelligence sharing and communications.
Our Operations Manager, Amber, along with the Street Team also met with the local PCSO from the Marylebone Safer Neighbourhood Team during which they shared information about recent crimes and hotspots, along with forthcoming crime and antisocial behaviour prevention operations.
And finally, our General Manager, Steph, joined teams from neighbouring Harley Street BID, Howard De Walden Estate and Westminster City Council for a walkabout with local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team to discuss a joined-up approach to tackling crime, particularly in relation to retail businesses.
Our Street Team operates across the whole of the Baker Street Quarter area, providing street safety reassurance and an effective deterrent to anti-social behaviour and crime, acting as the eyes and ears for the Police. Aided by our suite of security communications channels – including the ‘Alert’ platform and a WhatsApp group for security personnel in the area – the Street Team gathers information to share with the Police and local businesses to help them to prevent crime as well as collating valuable evidence. Recently, this evidence was used to convict a prolific shoplifter targeting the area.

While crime levels remain low here compared to other parts of London, we know from our recent survey along with conversations with businesses that crime in the area is a concern. Please do continue to report crimes to both the Police (find out how here) as well as the Street Team at [email protected] – it helps to build a picture of hotspots so that resources can be targeted effectively.
