St Mary’s Social Supermarket

St Mary’s Social Supermarket is a charitable initiative in Marylebone with the aim of helping to alleviate the strain of food poverty and loneliness in the community. Similar to a foodbank, they provide basic groceries and household goods such as bread, pasta, fresh canned vegetables and toiletries to anyone who is struggling. Alongside supplies they also offer free tea, coffee and snacks so guests can stay and chat with volunteers and each other.

The project is looking for volunteers to help set out the food prior to guests arriving, hand out food to guests and be a welcoming and friendly face! Volunteering can be done as a one-off or on an ongoing basis.

When:  Wednesdays, 9.00 to 10.30

Location: St Mary’s Church, Wyndham Place, W1H 1PQ

If you would like more information or to register your interest, please get in touch with our Community Impact Manager Hannah.

The supermarket depends on donations to keep running and delivering their service. If you are unable to volunteer but would like to help the project, food and financial donations are always welcome – find out more here.

Our Smarter Giving initiative facilitates relationships between our member businesses and local charities and community groups, with a special interest in the Church Street Ward, an area just north of Marylebone Road, that has historically had many social and economic challenges. We work with an array of grass-root organisations from homeless support centres and sheltered housing for the elderly, to charity nurseries and local schools. You can find out more about the project and other corporate giving opportunities here.
