Simpler Recycling – Are You Ready?

From 31 March, the government’s new Simpler Recycling legislation comes into force, changing the way that businesses, large and small, collect and recycle their waste.

The initiative aims to introduce a new, common-sense approach to recycling to reduce landfill waste and tackle illegal waste activities, creating a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society through improved recycling efforts.

Businesses will be required to collect four waste streams separately – food waste, dry mixed recycling (metals, plastics, glass), separate paper and card (if you produce lots) and general waste.

Not sure if you’re ready? Fear not! Our Smarter Recycling partners Recorra and First Mile have all the information that you need to put new processes in place.

If you’re not signed up to the Smarter Recycling scheme, you can find out more about it below. If now isn’t the right time, we encourage you to get in touch with your recycling and waste contractor to find out how they can support you in becoming compliant.
