Recycle Your Devices

According to the World Health Organisation, around 50 million tons of electronic waste is generated every year worldwide – the equivalent of 1,000 laptops every second. E-waste is the fastest-growing solid waste stream in the world, increasing three times faster than the global population.

You and your business can do your bit to help reduce this waste by choosing to recycle your electrical items as part of our Smarter Recycling service. Our two scheme partners, First Mile and Recorra, both offer the recycling of electricals – First Mile can help dispose of your old laptops, monitors and other IT equipment, refurbishing the items and redistributing them to charities and community groups, while Recorra offers free Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Sweeps on a quarterly basis as well as ad hoc WEEE collections of which working items are refurbished and reused whilst non-working items are disassembled and the components recycled.

FREE Waste Audits

It’s worth remembering that businesses that are signed up to Smarter Recycling can also access a free waste audit through either of our partners, to assess the waste your business produces, what is recycled and what is thrown away. You then receive a useful report with details and recommendations on how to cut waste and improve your recycling rates.

Smarter Recycling offers simplified waste management across the Baker Street Quarter and Harley Street BID areas, that help your business cut costs and meet its green goals. As more businesses use our service, the more we improve the area’s air quality and congestion by having fewer vehicles in the Quarter collecting rubbish.
