Earth Day – 22 April

Earth Day 2024 is coming up on 22 April – a chance for you and your business to look at ways to make positive change for the benefit of the environment and the planet. Earth Day is celebrated around the world in over 192 countries with over a billion people taking part in activities to make the world a healthier place.

Businesses can find a range of resources, toolkits and fact sheets to inspire change on the EarthDay.org website as well as a map of events and initiatives taking place.

Baker Street Quarter member, University of Westminster, is supporting one of its Alumni-led social enterprise’s Earth Day campaigns to donate old tech that organisations no longer need. SocialBox collects used laptops and Macbooks and other still usable tech that is being replaced and no longer needed. These items are wiped clean of their memory and loaded with software designed to elevate communication and encourage education and career opportunities for recipients, including those that are homeless, refugees, and the elderly across the United Kingdom. Find out more about SocialBox’s Earth Day campaign, along with how you can get involved and case studies of those that they have supported, here

A reminder that our Sustainability Hub features a wealth of resources, including commitments and legislation, relevant to all businesses, broken down by industry sector. Visit the Hub here

We also have our next Carbon Lite course coming up on 6 June, 13.00-15.00. The two-hour webinar will introduce all participants to climate change, its urgency and its relevance to both business and individuals – a great way to gain understanding and a chance to think about changes we can make within our personal and work lives that can make a difference.
