Do You Have Skills You Could Share With Local Charities?

We have seen some amazing skill-sharing over recent months as part of our Smarter Giving initiative, with keen volunteers donating their time to support local charities, schools and community groups with activities such as photography, cooking and HR support.

An employee from Cromwell Properties on Seymour Street, who is also a skilled photographer, has been busy taking new headshots for the staff at the Marylebone Project. Meanwhile, a member of staff from Knight Frank cooked a meal at The Marylebone Project’s ‘Sanctuary’ – its 24hr drop-in centre for vulnerable women at risk-  which enabled the women to help themselves to a hot meal throughout the day.

Portman Square-based Ardagh Glass held three coding sessions for students as part of their computing class at King Solomon Academy. In addition to this, their team attended Marylebone Boys School’s international Women’s Day event.

An HR specialist working at Energean, based on Baker Street, has been supporting Home-Start Westminster with its staff contracts, while the team from HSBC held a mock interview workshop with Yr13 students from St Marylebone CE school.

And finally, a choir made up of staff from Colliers on Wigmore Street visited Penfold Community Hub to entertain the elderly residents.

Our Smarter Giving initiative, that facilitates relationships between local businesses and charities, schools and community groups, has grown from strength to strength over recent years. As well as volunteering and skills-sharing, the initiative also features regular collection drives and supports both financial and equipment donations.
