Current Consultations

Westminster City Council is seeking your feedback on proposed highway and public realm improvements on George Street and Manchester Street.

The proposals, submitted by The Portman Estate, aim to enhance pedestrian safety, improve accessibility, and create a cohesive street environment. Key elements of the proposed improvements include:

  • Widening footways to allow more space for pedestrians;
  • Raising the carriageway level to match the footway;
  • Replacing the existing asphalt footways with new, uniform concrete pavers;
  • Adding a new cycle hangar and six cycle stands;
  • Additional work will be carried out on the private land at George’s Pocket Park to repave the area.

The consultation opens on 25 November and will run for two weeks until Monday 9 December. You can read more about the plans and view drawings here. We encourage you to review the proposed plans and share your thoughts.

Also currently taking place is consultation by TfL on proposed changes to bus routes 30 and 205 in the area.

Route 30 currently runs between Marble Arch and Hackney Wick, with route 205 currently running between Bow Church and Paddington. TfL is proposing to withdraw route 30 between Euston Bus Station and Marble Arch and withdraw route 205 between Paddington and Baker Street station and then extend the route 205 to Marble Arch via Baker Street.

In addition to this, extra journeys are being suggested for bus route 27 in the early mornings and late evenings, to make sure the frequency of buses in service between Paddington and Baker Street is sufficient to meet demand.

Find out more and to have your say on our proposals here. BakerStreetQ will be responding to the consultation and is happy to add your comments to this response if you would prefer, so please do share these with us here. The consultation closes on Monday 2 December 2024.
