Charity of the Year Round-Up

As we come to the end of working with Young Westminster Foundation (YWF) as our ‘Charity of the Year’, we look back at the work we have done with them over the last year and how you can support them going forward.  

Since 2017, Young Westminster Foundation has been supporting local youth clubs and organisations through grants, training and networking opportunities. Their work helps strengthen services for all young people growing up in Westminster with their vision for young people in the borough to grow up healthy, safe and happy. Through their ‘Needs Analysis’ research they find out directly from young people how they feel about the borough they live in, using this information to ensure that young people and their families have access to the best services and opportunities. 

Here are just a few of the activities that have taken place this year: 

• We worked with Young Westminster Foundation and its charity member, Sketch Appeal, to run art workshops with young people in the local area, creating portraits for our ‘Marylebone on Display’ art exhibition at Marylebone Station.

• The Young Westminster Foundation team presented and shared the work they do at BakerStreetQ Board Meetings and steering groups. They also attended our Meet the Charity event which opened up opportunities with local businesses to explore potential partnerships

• The Young Westminster Foundation team hosted a stall at our Summer in the Square event and one of its charity members delivered tennis workshops.

• All of the money raised through our Christmas charity raffle went to the foundation, as well as funds raised through the booking of our wellbeing activities at the Baker Street Hub.

• Our Community Impact Manager, Hannah, presented and shared her experience to Young Westminster Foundation members forum at a careers event.
