Changes To Dockless Bikes And E-Scooter Parking

Westminster City Council has launched extensive plans to address the issue of dockless bikes and e-scooters being left on pavements across the borough. A network of new geofenced designated parking locations will encourage users to park more responsibility or face the prospect of a substantial fine or suspension of their rider account. We are delighted to see this coming forward to encourage better use of e-bikes and scooters and reduce the significant issues we have seen with bikes left obstructing the pavement in our area.

A map of all the parking locations is available here. This applies to ALL e-bike and e-scooter providers. The scheme is being delivered in two phases – the first will see the area south of Marylebone Road subject the new mandatory parking rules within the next couple of weeks, and phase 2 will see the scheme implemented across the whole of Westminster later this year. Watch this space for a confirmed start date.

We encourage you to share this information with your friends, colleagues and tenants. We have created a poster with a link to the designated parking locations, for those that would like to display it in communal spaces within their buildings and offices – download available here.

We continue to work with Westminster City Council to ensure our area has enough e-bike parking provision in the correct locations to encourage users to comply.  In the short term this may mean temporary additional ‘virtual’ bays to those on the map to ensure sufficient provision on Baker Street in particular which sees a large number of dumped e-bikes.

The initial scheme is an 18-month trial and the Council welcomes comments on the proposed locations via [email protected]. Information on how to submit comments on the parking locations and how to report bikes causing a nuisance or obstruction is here.
