Annual Survey Results 2024
30 September 2024
Our annual survey took place in July and August, gathering valuable feedback on our activities, your priorities, and thoughts on the area as a whole, which we feed into our projects and plans.
This year we expanded the reach of our survey beyond our business members, inviting non-member businesses and local residents to let us know what they think.
Here are some of the headline results:
Key headlines
Responses to how people feel about the area are improving or remaining the same year on year, except feelings of safety which have unfortunately declined. Residents were slightly more positive about the area’s safety than local workers but less happy with its maintenance.
Local workers:
- 92% of local workers feel that Baker Street Quarter is an attractive area, compared to 89% of residents
- 84% of workers think the area is enjoyable to spend time in
- 60% of local workers feel the area is safe, compared to 66% of residents
- 90% feel the area is well maintained, compared to 76% of residents
Most notable concerns
We asked respondent to rate their biggest concerns and issues about the area, ranging from crime and antisocial behaviour, through to air pollution, graffiti and litter:
- Concern around phone and bag theft has increased 10% year on year and is the greatest concern to local workers at 74%. It is a lesser concern to local residents at 50%
- ‘E-Bike Obstruction’ was a new category this year, and it’s clear there’s a lot of concern there at nearly 40% – residents were even more concerned about this at 66%
- Pedestrian safety, street cleanliness, and traffic noise have all improved since last year
- Begging and rough sleeping were of higher concern to residents than workers at 42% and 37% respectively.
