AccessAble Surveys
16 September 2024
Baker Street Quarter and The Portman Estate have partnered with AccessAble to create an accessibility plan for the area, with a view to creating an accessible destination and an even bigger welcome to visitors.
AccessAble is the largest provider of accessibility information across the UK, facilitating a website that is promoted through Visit Britain and Visit London, and available to 16 million people who have additional access needs. The site features information collated through tens of thousands of venues surveyed across the UK and Ireland, including shops, pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, stations, hotels, universities, and more.
To get the process started, surveys are currently being undertaken for the main pedestrian routes through the area, Marylebone Station and a number of customer-facing businesses and attractions.
We are keen for many others to get involved so if you would like to participate and get your business listed with AccessAble, please get in touch with Helen ([email protected]) for more information. There is a small fee for the initial survey of around £300 – £500 depending upon the size of your premises.
Our accessibility plan forms part of our Placemaking Strategy that sets out a vision for the future of the area – reimagining it as an exceptional place to live, work, study and visit, and developing a community-driven approach towards an active, greener, safer and more inclusive neighbourhood.
