A Tribute To Reece

On 1 March 2023, our Operations Manager Reece Simwogerere unexpectedly passed away. This has been a truly difficult time for his family and everyone who knew Reece. We have been incredibly touched by the outpouring of love and support we have received from our members, partners and suppliers and everyone who worked with him. Reece’s family have also found great comfort from these kind words and acts of generosity. On 9 May we joined his family and friends to attend his funeral and celebration of his life.

Reece was a very special person who made such an impact on those he worked with, and the tributes we, and his family have received, have reinforced to us how fortunate we were to have known him as a colleague and friend. He was a true gentleman, kind, thoughtful, with an infectious laugh and smile and was incredibly interesting to be around. He loved arts and culture, sports -especially his beloved Arsenal – fashion and travel.

Reece had a long-standing passion for caring and supporting young people and prior to joining us, in addition to working at Brixton BID, was a Director of We Rise Brixton, a community business that empowers young people to build successful futures.
