Big Steps For Crossrail

The Crossrail project has had a significant couple of months, with trial running now well underway and four trains per hour now testing on the central operating section. The project remains on schedule to deliver a service for passengers in the first half of 2022, offering excellent new connections to the Quarter for commuters and visitors. When the Elizabeth line Bond Street station opens, it will accommodate over 225,000 people daily, with step-free accessibility and reduced commute times for many of the Quarter’s workers. New, high-capacity trains will run on the new line, all air conditioned and with more standing room as well as a mixture of seating.

Another important step is the handover of stations from the Crossrail project team to Transport for London, and Paddington Station will be one of the next stations on the line to be handed over in the coming weeks.
