Sustainability Action Plan Review
4 March 2024
Our Sustainability Action Plan, launched last year, has recently undergone its first annual review by Bioregional.
The review looked at the progress made by BakerStreetQ against the Sustainability Action Plan, with priorities and recommendations for 24/25. It took into consideration external influencing factors, at a global level through to local, and a detailed review of progress against the Plan’s four pillars:
- To provide support and facilitation for members in achieving net zero
- To collaborate with members to facilitate the delivery of healthy and high-quality public spaces
- To nurture a connected and caring community
- To promote and inspire a sustainable workplace, retail, leisure and hospitality experience for all.
Bioregional concluded that overall BakerStreetQ is making good progress against the plan and recognises our continued commitment to foster a sustainable Quarter for all. Key achievements so far include the launch of the Placemaking Strategy and the air quality report, which provide us with detailed quantitative and qualitative data to help guide decision-making.
Sian Cooke, Bioregional’s Head of Sustainable Business, said ‘It is great to see Baker Street Quarter making strong commitments within its sustainability plan and it has made encouraging progress within its first year. Establishing a Sustainability Steering Group, developing the Placemaking Strategy and continuing to expand its community impact are all crucial actions towards achieving its sustainability vision’.
Commitments to sustainability are central to our Delivery Plan 24/25, with key measures in place to ensure that we continue to make progress against our own targets as well as supporting our members to reach theirs. This includes working with businesses and the wider community on initiatives such as training and activities that inspire sustainable action. As well as continuing our Smarter Recycling and Smarter Giving schemes, we will also be focusing on greening and accessibility – taking forward projects set out in the Placemaking Strategy – and progressing collaborative area-based carbon reduction initiatives, with ideas including projects focused on scope three suppliers and further waste or delivery consolidation.
