Local Street Works

Repairs are due to be taking place to the pavement and area outside the shops at Baker Street station this spring. TfL, which owns and manages several properties in Baker Street as well as operational land and the station, recently undertook investigative works into the state of Baker Street station’s structural underpinnings. During these works, issues were identified that need to be repaired for the long-term safety of the building, including strengthening, waterproofing and pavement renewal works along 186 – 236 Baker Street as well as along Marylebone Road and part of Allsop Place.

You can find out more about the proposed programme of works and FAQs here. It is expected that works will take approximately a year to complete. We will update impacted businesses as and when we receive information.

In other news, improvements to Portman Mews South have recently been completed, commissioned by The Portman Estate, enhancing pedestrian access with wider pavements and creating space for four new cycle stands to support cycling in the area. The street has now become more appealing to those using it as a link between Portman Street and Orchard Street and giving the businesses a much-needed footfall boost. The extra space will also allow for greening opportunities and outdoor seating in future.
