Forthcoming Spring Events
17 April 2023
There are some exciting events coming up as we head towards summer at venues across the Quarter, from lectures and exhibitions to food markets and pop-ups.
George’s Park food stall
Starting next week and throughout the summer, local workers and those passing by will be able to pick up delicious lunchtime treats from a food pop-up in George’s Pocket Park, located close to the corner of Baker Street and George Street, created in partnership with The Portman Estate.
Every Wednesday, a street food trader will take the reins of our pop-up space, offering freshly made dishes in the tranquil setting of our rejuvenated mini oasis. With extra seating and gazebos for when it’s not dry, the street food pop-up will be available to come and enjoy. Added to this, our new workshop programme will take place once a month, specially designed to fit into lunch breaks. These free-of-charge sessions will include poetry and creative writing, spring collaging and eco printing. Keep an eye on our Events calendar for up-to-date events listings.
Munch in Marylebone
We are delighted that Munch in Marylebone – The Marylebone Project’s catering business – has joined our fortnightly food market at 55 Baker Street and will be offering delicious homemade food throughout the summer and into autumn.
Through this initiative, The Marylebone Project provides opportunities for vulnerable or homeless women to gain catering skills and qualifications, by volunteering in their Munch kitchen and taking part in catering programmes and classes. The food is freshly prepared with the support of a professional chef with many of the dishes they create based on recipes that the women have shared and come from all over the world.

Portraits of Dogs @ the Wallace Collection
The Wallace Collection’s latest exhibition is dedicated to our four-legged friends. Portraits of Dogs: From Gainsborough to Hockney explores the unique bond between humans and their canine companions across the centuries, featuring paintings, sculptures, drawings, works of art and even taxidermy! The exhibition runs until October this year. An online talk introducing the exhibition, with Xavier Bray, Director of the Wallace Collection, and Alexander Collins, Assistant Curator, is taking place on 24 April. The pair will share their insights into the exhibition and explore the development of dog portraiture across the centuries. Find out more here.
The Hellenic Centre – special offer for members
The Hellenic Centre, based at the unique and beautiful building on Paddington Street, hosts a rich programme of lectures, exhibitions, concerts and social events throughout the year. They are offering BakerStreetQ members 25% off events taking place as part of their recently launched April-June programme. The full listing and more information are available here and members can use the promo code BAKERSTQ to apply their discount.
Marylebone Food Festival
A reminder that Marylebone’s Food Festival is taking place next week, 25 April to 30 April, bringing together the restaurants, cafes, bars and food retailers in Marylebone for a five-day food celebration. A full round up of events can be found here.
As part of the Festival, we’re incredibly excited for our Marylebone Tasting Tour taking place on 26th. We’ll be taking attendees on a scrumptious tour to discover some of the wonderful places to eat within the Quarter including Chotto Matte Marylebone, Montagu Kitchen and Lounge (Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill), Nobu Portman, Kitchen at Holmes and The Grazing Goat. Tickets for the tour sold out very quickly this time round but rest assured we are looking at organising another tour later in the year. We will also be hosting our usual fortnightly food market at 55 Baker Street on Thursday 27, 12.00 – 14.30, as well as our brand new lunchtime food pop-up in George’s Pocket Park, taking place in the space on Wednesday 26th.
Don’t forget, we also have our ongoing programme of guided walks, cultural events, wellness workshops, food markets and training courses. View the full events calendar here.
