E-Bike Parking Enforcement

TfL has announced that it will take enforcement action against operators who allow dockless e-bikes and e-scooters to be left outside of designated places on the TfL Road Network (TLRN) or TfL land.

Operators are ultimately responsible for ensuring their users park their bikes/e-scooters appropriately, and TfL’s enforcement action will be targeted against operators who do not ensure these rules are complied with, rather than individual users. Action against operators could range from warnings, Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), removal of vehicles or prosecutions depending on the context.

The parking of e-bikes has become a hot topic over recent years, with bikes regularly causing problems across the capital, cluttering up pavements, creating obstructions and hazards to pedestrians and other road users. Here at BakerStreetQ, we are continuing to work closely with Westminster City Council on the monitoring of its network of geofenced designated parking locations introduced in the area last year, submitting regular feedback on the parking zones where problems and overcrowding have occurred. In addition to the new enforcement action, TfL is allocating £985k to boroughs this year, which will fund parking space for 7,500 vehicles. Funding will be available up to 2027/28.
