Baker Street-Based Accountancy Firm BDO Inspires Local Students

Last month, a team of volunteers from Baker Street-based accountancy and business advisory firm BDO visited Marylebone Boys’ School to deliver a career and marketing workshop. The workshop focused predominantly on marketing fundamentals and the students learnt more about BDO, its culture and school leaver opportunities. Students took part in a ‘Dragons Den style’ pitch, applying the marketing theory that they had learnt and creating a marketing plan for a country of their choice, resulting in some very creative ideas!

The initiative was delivered as part of our Smarter Giving programme that pairs businesses with local charities, schools and community groups.  The scheme aims to facilitate long term relationships that support the local community and includes a ‘Supporting Education and Employment’ workstream that aims to inspire local students and encourage businesses to seek to employ those living in the area. Other activities that have taken place include work experience placements and a range of businesses attending careers fairs or hosting recruitment events.
