Wild West End Garden Launches

Today an award-winning garden has opened in the Quarter after being moved from RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The Wild West End Garden has been developed to improve biodiversity and air quality, promoting happiness and wellbeing.

The Wild West End Garden, which won a gold medal in the Spaces to Grow category at Chelsea Flower Show last month, has been moved to Old Quebec Street to provide a tranquil, green oasis for local residents, visitors and workers.  A huge thanks to our neighbouring BID,  New West End Company and The Portman Estate who commissioned this innovative project which we are proud to support. The garden was designed by five times gold-winning garden designer Kate Gould.

The garden will regenerate the streetscape on Old Quebec Street and improve the visitor experience  for all. It is designed as a modern interpretation of the gardens of a London Square. A calm and tranquil communal garden, it will provide a green oasis all year round in the heart of the West End. The space has lightweight trees to provide shelter and seclusion from the surrounding urban environment, whilst colourful, vibrant low-level planting around the garden’s perimeter invites visitors in from Old Quebec Street. Visitors will be able to enjoy the garden in all its splendour in the evening too, with light boxes that illuminate the garden as darkness falls.

The garden is open from today (25 June) and located on London’s Old Quebec Street, near Marble Arch Tube. Entry is free.
