When You Return To The Quarter

Over the last few weeks, there’s been an uptick in people in the Quarter and a noticeable buzz on our streets and spaces. With more shops, stores and eateries opening soon and more of you returning to the workplace we’ve rounded up a few key pointers to assist your return, whenever that may be.

If you’re considering cycling into the Quarter, now is a great time to do so. Additional cycle storage capacity has been added throughout the area – view our map to discover the locations. Temporary cycle lanes have been implemented in the capital including on Euston Road and Park Lane to ease your journey, and if your bike or your cycling skills are a little rusty, Transport for London’s online Cycle Skills course will help you brush up and you can find the following bike stores locally: Velorution on Great Portland Street and Evans Cycles on Mortimer Street just east of the Quarter, Handlebars near Marble Arch and Bikesoup on Frampton Street near Edgeware Road.

We also recommend downloading the TfL Go App to help plan your journey around quieter times and to check walking and cycling routes for your route.

You might be thinking of making parts of your journey on foot. TfL has put together a handy guide of walk vs tube times here, and if you want to use it as a chance to explore the city find quieter routes and points of interest here.

For your peace of mind, rest assured that the Quarter continues to be safe and clean with even more deep cleaning of the streets now taking place. Our Street Safety Team, who are classed as essential workers, have patrolled the Quarter seven days a week throughout the last 12 months and continue to do so. Their roles are wide ranging and cover everything from helping to support the local retailers, patrolling and monitoring the streets for any anti-social behaviour, reporting and fixing street-based issues and signposting rough sleepers to outreach resources. You can find out more about their roles here.

The Quarter’s many outdoor spaces are really starting to bloom with the arrival of spring. For a quick coffee or lunch break, George’s Park, our tranquil pocket park off George Street, and Paddington Street Gardens await you and if you want to take a longer lunch walk then Regents Park and Hyde Park are close by.

Many of the Quarter’s hospitality businesses with outdoor seating will be reopening from 12 April, and we’re very excited for those first Friday drinks in the spring sunshine. We’ve put together a list of the venues with outdoor space; most are bookable, whether you need to hold a business meeting or just want a catch up with your colleagues. Check out our Shop The Quarter Directory for a refresher of everywhere open for business, and make sure you follow us on Instagram for the latest too.

Look out for more updates from us on our plans for future activities and events for you to enjoy in the Quarter.
