University Equality Successes
14 May 2021
Congratulations are in order for the University of Westminster, whose local campus is on Marylebone Road, which has performed brilliantly in the newly published Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021. The rankings measure how universities are performing against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Westminster’s results show the university’s dedication to improving our society and having a positive impact, both locally and further afield.
In the rankings, the University of Westminster was recognised as one of the top 20 universities in the world for supporting gender equality, top 25 for supporting reduced inequalities and in the top 50 for supporting responsible consumption and production. To achieve these rankings in a global field is a fantastic achievement, and it’s great our local university is setting the standard in so many areas we prioritise for sustainability in the Quarter.
Commenting on the rankings, Dr Peter Bonfield, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Westminster, said: “I am incredibly proud of the University’s performance in the latest THE Impact Rankings. Our shared values of being progressive, compassionate and responsible play an important role in delivering our social and economic impact around the world and in bringing our communities and society together. Our University is in an excellent position to address the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and it is our opportunity and duty to do so.”
