Tackling Climate Change
8 November 2021
While all eyes are on the COP26 summit, are you in a position to help further shape your business’s approach to climate change here in the Quarter?
If you want to understand the science behind the slogans and jargon behind climate change and help your business with frameworks for prioritising, assessing, and communicating action on climate change, then our Carbon Literacy Training may be for you. The course is coming up on 16 and 23 November, and there are a few days left to register. Completion of the course will certify participants as ‘Carbon Literate’, an internationally recognised qualification. Find out more here, and email [email protected] to sign up before Friday 12 November.
One of Our Sustainable Future projects that has widespread sustainability benefits for our entire area is our Smarter Recycling scheme, which contributes to better air quality and lower emissions. The scheme reduces traffic and pollution by consolidating waste vehicle trips and using low emission vehicles where possible, as well as helping your business cut costs and meet green goals by minimising waste and increasing recycling rates. We now have over 70% of our members using the scheme and have estimated to have reduced waste vehicle trips by over 63%.
All users of Smarter Recycling get access to a dedicated member Portal to view key statistics for your building or business – great for reporting on your sustainability targets.
Remember, members of our Smarter Recycling scheme can also request a free Recycling Improvement Plan, to assess how you as a business can increase recycling rates and achieve your green goals, such as reducing use of single-use plastics.
The Sustainable Future strand of our work offers a range of practical services to help our members to reach targets, reduce emissions and improve air quality in the Quarter. Over the last few months we have been working with Bioregional on their One Planet Living framework to further develop our programme across a range of 10 sustainability pillars. Watch this space for more information in the next couple of weeks.
More information on the Smarter Recycling scheme can be found on our website here.
