Support Families In Need This Christmas
24 October 2022
With Christmas just around the corner, we have a number of opportunities for you and your business to support those in need locally. With many more families feeling the strain of the cost-of-living crisis, you can help us to bring some joy and smiles to those who need them most this winter.
Many of you have taken part in our various Smarter Giving charity activities over the years, with incredible generosity. Whether you are a returning supporter or looking for a Christmas charity initiative to engage your colleagues, here are a couple of ways that you can get involved.
Christmas Charity Raffle
This Christmas sees the return of our ever-popular Charity Raffle with prizes donated by local businesses including Elemis, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, Holmes Hotel, Doubletree by Hilton – Marble Arch, the Grazing Goat and Madame Tussauds.
The raffle will be drawn at our Christmas drinks on 30 November at the Grazing Goat. This year all money raised is going to the Marylebone Project – a local charity which provides a life-changing, all-encompassing service for vulnerable homeless women, providing a safe environment in which to rebuild their lives. More information can be found on the Marylebone Project’s website.
We are asking for a donation of £5 per ticket and these can be arranged by emailing us at [email protected]
Family Food Hampers
With the cost-of-living crisis hitting many households, this Christmas will be particularly tough for those families already struggling with food poverty. Just on our doorstep, to the north of Marylebone station, is Church Street Ward where over 65% of families are living on the lowest 1% income in the country.
This Christmas, BakerStreetQ is teaming up with local charities to collect and distribute as many Family Food Hampers as we can. These hampers will contain staple food items that will help families feed themselves over Christmas, along with some special treats to bring some festive cheer.
If you or your team or business would like to take part and join our Christmas Campaign to put together food hampers for those families in need, please contact our Smarter Giving Project Manager, Kate Heslegrave at [email protected]
About Smarter Giving:
Our corporate giving initiative facilitates partnership working between our member businesses and local charities and community groups supporting the vulnerable and those in need, with financial donations, charity drives and volunteering opportunities. Most recently, in September we arranged a Clothes Drive with several of our members donating men’s and women’s clothing along with accessories, jewellery and bags. Collection bins were located at nine local buildings and businesses with donated clothes sent to local charities Smart Works, The Marylebone Project and St John’s Hospice.
If you would like to know more about how to get involved with the Smarter Giving programme or to be added to the mailing list for details of forthcoming drives and activities, contact Kate at [email protected]
