Street Management Team at BakerStreetQ
22 August 2022
Our Street Management Team are a key part of our activities at BakerStreetQ, helping to ensure the streets are safe and cared for, and keeping a friendly eye on the area.
Our Environment Manager Alhoussein (Al) is our ambassador, ensuring the environment is clean and safe, reporting any issues such as broken paving slabs, rubbish and roadworks. He also welcomes visitors, assists anyone who needs help, and regularly chats with local businesses and residents in the area. You’ll currently find Al outside Baker Street station during rush hours, and throughout the Quarter Monday to Friday. He is supported by Saud for additional Environment Manager activities.
The Street Safety Team, including Ahmed, Prashanth, Ram and Swastik, are on regular patrol seven days a week. They work in partnership with stakeholders including the Metropolitan Police, Safer WestEnd, local security managers and Westminster City Council, sharing information and intelligence to ensure the area is safe and resilient. They also connect with local businesses via radios and our Incident Alert system.
The team regularly engage with workers and residents through activities such as the recent Security Briefing in July, and assisting with the promotion of the upcoming Met Police Engagement Event on 24 August, and conducting walkabouts with our stakeholders.
The team has day-to-day contact with rough sleepers, they work alongside our outreach team The Passage to ensure that members of the street population are signposted to resources when needed.
Overall, the Street Management Team provide a welcoming and reassuring presence in the area. If you see our team out and about in black and yellow, make sure you stop and say hello!
