Smarter Giving’s Biggest Haul of Gifts Ever!
4 January 2019
Smarter Giving’s 2018 Christmas campaign, which was met with your usual heart-warming enthusiasm and immensely generous support, has managed, once again to surpass previous years.
Our toy appeal, in particular, which received a 524 gifts from 42 businesses, was a huge success and our biggest haul of gifts ever! The gifts were distributed between the COSMIC ward at St Mary’s hospital and four local nurseries, with a number of them being gift-wrapped by volunteers from Knight Frank and BDO. Some of last year’s most sort after toys from Marvel, Star Wars and Harry Potter, were kindly donated by Madame Tussauds.
All of which, of course, needed to be delivered! Wigmore Street based car dealership, Motor Village Marylebone and Chancery Gate on Berkeley Street, came to the rescue by providing ‘Santa’s sleighs’.
Our ‘Charity of the year 2018’, Home-Start, which works closely with deprived families within the Baker Street area, were the delighted recipients of £1,200 raised from our Christmas drinks reception and the money we saved by not sending out Christmas cards. August Media also generously donated a range of textiles to Home-Start. And, volunteers from Salter Baxter supported a KIDS charity sale.
We’d like to give a huge thank you to all of you who made such a tremendous effort to help us support our immensely grateful causes.
