Selfridges Launches Project Earth
24 August 2020
Selfridges wants to change the way people shop and how they do business, starting with its own ambitious sustainability targets for 2025.
Working closely with more than 300 brand partners and support from the Woodland Trust and WWF, Project Earth kickstarts with eight weeks of experiments, innovations and conversations across all stores and online, all dedicated to reinventing retail.
Initiatives include signposting more ethical and sustainably-produced products, offering pre-loved, recycled and rental clothing, a garment repair service to encourage re-use, and advice for consumers on how to make greener choices. Online and in-store events include talks, takeovers and screenings on topics such as ethical eating, sustainable beauty and climate action. There are also fun learning activities for children including making an upcycled tote bag and bug hotel.
Selfridges aims to address the materials used in products, launch and explore new retail models such as repair and resell, and engage with teams, partners and customers to inspire a shift in mindset.
