Representing Your Needs

We’ve been continuing our lobbying work behind the scenes, representing the voice of businesses in Baker Street Quarter on a number of proposals and consultations. More so than ever, this strand of our work is crucial to ensure that business views are heard and considered in plans that affect the area and the city as a whole.

Knowing the challenges that many of our businesses are facing, we are lobbying to improve the Government’s allocation of discretionary lockdown grants to Westminster businesses, ensuring that their role in the capital’s recovery is acknowledged.

In addition to this, we are joining fellow London BIDs in writing to the Mayor to highlight the importance that London & Partners and tourism will play in London and the UK’s economic recovery.  This action follows the proposed reduction in funding for London & Partners and the letter highlights the need for large-scale campaigning in 2021 to sell London domestically and internationally, as a world-class global destination.

We are also responding, in partnership with other Westminster BIDs, to consultation on Westminster City Council’s proposed changes to licensing. This includes requesting greater clarity on licensing hours, confirmation of criteria for the use of licensable outside space and recognition of the positive contribution of hotels and members clubs to the local economy and community. We are also asking that the new regime provides enough flexibility to allow for new/exciting concepts in the area.

More information on our lobbying activities can be found on the Collective Voice page or get in touch with us at [email protected].
