Recycling Stats For 2022

The stats are in for last year’s Smarter Recycling and we’re delighted to see that the service continues to make a real difference to waste recycling rates and air quality – two key goals in our Sustainability Strategy. 

Since its launch, our Smarter Recycling service has reduced waste collection trips, and consequently traffic emissions, in the area by 58%, with a majority of members signed up along with many non-member street level businesses. The scheme offers businesses the unique opportunity to work together to tackle the issue of traffic volumes and air quality, minimising waste and increasing recycling rates and, in turn, feeding into our members’ own ESG and sustainability goals.  

Stats for 2022 include: 

904 tonnes of waste recycled 

CO2 saved: 700,000 tonnes 

Trees saved: 2,150 

38,500 Coffee logs produced by biobean 

A special well done to members LCP and Revcap who were the highest performers with 98% and 79% average recycling rates, closely followed by Pentland Group and the businesses at 55 Baker Street.
