Placemaking Plans – Have Your Say
21 November 2022
We have been working on the development of our Placemaking Strategy for Baker Street and Marylebone with the aim of setting out opportunities to enhance the area including public realm, accessibility, greening, culture and identity. As part of the process, we want to hear from residents, businesses, workers and visitors their opinions about what makes the area special, the challenges that need to be addressed to improve the place and make it work better for their needs.
Consultation is being carried out by Soundings, a community engagement company, appointed by Baker Street Quarter Partnership and The Portman Estate, to conduct this research project and to reach out to hear the views of the whole community. The research aims to find out how people experience the area currently, what is valued and areas of concern. This can be about things such as local services, car parking, public spaces and greenery, community and cultural offer, the night-time economy, how safe the area feels, the routes and modes people use to move around the area and where they avoid. We are also keen to understand priorities around the climate emergency for the future of the Baker Street and Marylebone Area.
There are two ways to take part in the research:
- Visit the website: bakerstreetandmarylebonearea.co.uk and complete a questionnaire (this takes approximately 10 minutes) and post comments on a map of the area, telling us what is loved and where improvements can be made.
- Meet Soundings at a street pop-up event to find out about the study and share your thoughts on a big aerial map of the area. The next session will take place at our Food Market at 55 Baker Street on Friday 24 November (12.00-15.00) or alternatively at the southwest corner of Dorset Square on Thursday 1 December (15.00-18.00)
