New TfL Business Toolkit
5 September 2020
We’ve been working with our partner’s TfL and Westminster City Council on various schemes including opening up Baker Street station’s forecourt and additional bike parking to make your commute easier. With lots of these brilliant measures in place across the wider area, TfL have produced an Active Travel Toolkit to help you commute with confidence. This handy guide encourages businesses to put a travel plan at the heart of their recovery strategy. It helps employers support greater demand for alternative ways to get to work including walking and cycling.
Businesses can make an immediate impact with actions including:
- Reminding staff about existing facilities that already make travel easier such as showers, lockers and bike rack locations
- Creating a cycle to work programme
- Signposting journey planning tools such as TfL’s new app TfL Go
- Staggering start and finish times so employees can use public transport at quieter times
The toolkit also includes an employee travel survey template so businesses can assess staff travel concerns and needs, and tailor subsequent initiatives. With London’s Streetspace scheme already opening up more walking and cycling routes, there’s never been a better time to review your business’s travel strategy. Access TfL’s travel toolkit here.
If you are thinking about taking up cycling to work or if you are an experienced cyclist you can join our Cycle Safety webinar with experts Bikeworks on 17 September 13.00 – 15.00 here.
