Improvements Made by LEN
11 February 2019
Marylebone LEN – a partnership between Westminster City Council, the Mayor of London and local partners, including us – has developed a scheme that focuses on improving amenities for walking and cycling around the Marylebone High Street and Paddington Street areas. These improvements include new, and safer pedestrian zebra crossings, additional cycle parking, better links between the Paddington Street Gardens pavements and continuous footpaths over some minor road accesses. Plus, over a dozen new street trees and a host of other low-level plants suited to pollution absorption and supporting wildlife, will be planted.
The scheme will help demonstrate some of the air quality benefits of improving public spaces for the benefit of local communities.
Construction has already commenced on the first part of the project on Marylebone High Street and is due to complete in August 2019. Watch out for closures on Paddington Street and Luxborough Street between March and April. You can stay right up-to-date with what’s happening throughout the scheme by signing u for for regular construction updates.
