Elizabeth Line Bond Street Station To Open In November

Transport for London has announced that Bond Street station on the Elizabeth Line will open from 6 November 2022. Bond Street will be one of the key stations on the central section of the Elizabeth line, and the brand-new station will feature two ticket halls at street level.

The new station will provide greater connectivity  to  the area for workers and visitors. With journey times from Heathrow to Bond Street at just 36 minutes, and from Reading to Bond Street in 56 minutes.

The 6 November date will also see the Elizabeth line start running on Sundays, providing easier access to the West End and the Quarter at weekends.

Overall, the new Elizabeth line brings an additional 1.5 million people within 45 minutes of central London and increases central London’s rail capacity by 10%. A welcome economic boost giving visitors and Londoners greater access to the Baker Street Quarter and wider West End.

Bond Street Station Highlights

  • The new Bond Street station will have step-free access, natural light in the ticket halls situated at Hanover Square and Davies Street, and there will be improved public realm around the station.
  • Trains will also benefit from air-conditioning, WiFi, CCTV and real-time travel information.
  • The new ticket hall will feature three abstract artworks by British artist Darren Almond. These have been inspired by the embossed metal nameplates found at the front of British locomotives.

Recent projections by Transport for London show that passenger numbers at West End stations are expected to increase by 22.5m by 2026.
