Do you have a spare laptop to help local families in need?
13 July 2020
Do you or your business have spare laptops or tablets you know longer need? If you do, your equipment could offer a lifeline to a local family that urgently need technology to support home schooling.
Homestart, a charity that supports around 200 families in Westminster each year, is appealing for donations of laptops and tablets to support those that desperately need them within the local community. For many low income families, who already face challenges in their day to day lives, the coronavirus situation has brought with it new pressures and anxieties, particularly with trying to maintain their children’s learning, without access to technology and equipment at home. Homestart has been working hard to ease the burden, providing fun activity packs for children and wellbeing support for parents as well as signposting to other emergency support such as foodbanks and advice services. In the past, their appeals for equipment have received a really positive response from local businesses and it would be fantastic to be able to support them once again.
In addition to equipment, the team at Homestart is also looking for people with knowledge and experience of Google Adwords to support their forthcoming volunteer recruitment drive over the summer and into the autumn. With a surge in demand for volunteer befrienders expected over forthcoming months, once face-to-face visits are given the all-clear to restart, the charity are keen to enhance their appeals by utilising their AdWords account as much as possible.
If you can help out Homestart by either donating pieces of IT equipment or by volunteering your services in any other way please do get in touch with our Smarter Giving Manager, Kate
