Crossrail On Track

2021 was a significant year for the Crossrail project and the Elizabeth line remains on track to open in the first half of 2022, with the project in its final phase of testing. When open, the Elizabeth line will provide fantastic new connections to the Quarter for both commuters and visitors via Bond Street and Paddington, offering more options for commuters and high-capacity, air-conditioned trains.

Bond Street station, the Quarter’s closest Crossrail station, is scheduled to open slightly later than other stations on the line, but a recent update from the Crossrail team said the delay is reducing rapidly and an opening date will hopefully be provided soon. We will share this with you once we receive the information.

August saw the completion of public realm work at Paddington, with new seating beneath a glass canopy, customer information screens, a new mainline station entrance and improved access to taxis and buses.

As the project moved into the final phase. The Trial Operations team continue to trail more than 150 real-life scenarios to ensure all procedures and systems are running effectively, and involves organisations such as the London Underground, Transport for London, Network Rail and the emergency services.

We will pass on more updates when we have them and hope the final stages of the project continue to run well. You can also read more on the Crossrail website.
