Celebrating Pride Month In The Quarter
7 June 2021
June is Pride Month and here in the Quarter we’re putting on two free special events to mark the occasion, celebrate the Quarter’s LGBTQ+ community past and present and provide you and your workplaces mental health, diversity and inclusion advice.
On 16 June, join our Blue Badge Guide Mark as he takes you on a virtual tour of Marylebone’s famous LGBTQ+ trailblazers including actors, authors, svengalis, singers and spies. From political parades and uncivilised arrests to very civil partnerships, this is sure to be a fascinating tour of our local area. The tour is open to all, and you can book here.
Then on Wednesday 30 June, we’re delighted to welcome Dr Sophie Cook for a virtual talk on LGBTQ+ Awareness. Sophie provides mental health, diversity and inclusion advice that helps businesses to work more effectively and be more cohesive through the power of shared experience and by recognising the things that we have in common rather than those which divide us.
She is an in-demand public speaker and has delivered keynote talks internationally including for TEDx, JP Morgan, Virgin Media and Stonewall, and at the 2020 British LGBT Awards was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to LGBT+ Life Award, so we’re very excited to welcome her. This session is for BakerStreetQ members and their employees, and you can book here.
Our training and events programmes are jam-packed with interesting sessions to help you learn a little more about our area alongside handy training opportunities.
