Calling All Runners, Cyclists And Walkers!
18 May 2020
We all need to rethink the way we travel to work as we start to plan our phased return to the Quarter. As part of our recovery plan, we are working with our partners TfL, Westminster City Council and Portman Estate to find solutions for safe travel to the Quarter by bike or foot.
Whilst work is underway to increase capacity on our foot and cycle ways via TfL’s Streetspace plan, we are carrying out research to find alternative routes to the Quarter. We know that many of you already cycle and walk to work and would like to ask for your help to support others to do the same. We are especially interested in recommended and interesting routes from London’s major transport hubs:
- Kings Cross and St Pancras to Baker Street
- Paddington to Baker Street
- Euston to Baker Street
- Liverpool Street to Baker Street
- Fenchurch Street to Baker Street
- London Bridge to Baker Street
- Charing Cross to Baker Street
- Waterloo to Baker Street
- Stratford to Baker Street
- Blackfriars to Baker Street
- Victoria to Baker Street
- Cannon Street to Baker Street
With your recommendations it is our aim to create a series of easy to use walking and cycling maps, plus hand tips for all to access on our website.
We asked our team here at BakerStreetQ how they travel to work and this is an example of a regular route by Deborah from St Pancras to our office which you can view here. At a brisk pace this 2-mile walk takes 30 minutes and burns approximately 320 calories for a round trip.
Send your route to us via sketch on a piece of paper, a written description, a bike cam film, photographs, google maps, Strava or any other way that’s convenient to you.
