Bus Route Consultation
5 December 2022
We were delighted to hear that bus services through the Quarter that were at risk of being withdrawn, will now remain open. While there will still be some changes across the network, bus routes 31, 113, 189, and N205 that service the Baker Street and Marylebone area will continue following Transport for London’s Central London Bus Review and lobbying efforts by groups including Baker Street Quarter Partnership.
The review was carried out by TfL following significant impact to the organisation’s finances following the pandemic. The consultation saw a significant response, with over 21,000 people responding across the capital. In addition to this, BakerStreetQ along with our fellow London BIDs have been urging TfL and the Mayor to reconsider the proposed changes given the impact they would have on workers travelling to and from the area and the knock-on effect on retail and hospitality businesses. As a result, additional funding has been provided by the Mayor to allow TfL to reassess and significantly reduce the scope of the proposals. Bus users will also benefit from the introduction of the Mayor’s Hopper fare allowing unlimited bus travel within an hour for £1.65.
The consultation report for the Central London Bus Review can be found here and details of the Mayor’s funding announcement here which also provides a summary of the outcome by route.
