Ballot Result Demonstrates Strong Support For Future Plans
27 November 2017
Our renewal ballot results on 24 November showed members voted overwhelmingly in support of our future plans for the area. 95% of members voted YES by number and 96% by rateable value (value of premises). We are particularly grateful to our members for taking the time to vote with 80% of members doing so. Importantly our prior consultation on the plans also demonstrated the strength of support for our business plan from the wider community and council. This strong mandate across the community is vital as we move forward with our efforts to enhance the area for everyone.
Our ambition is for an area that is first class, welcoming and supportive of both business operations and staff wellbeing. An area where people want to work, are keen to visit, eager to explore and happy to live. To realise this vision we will work to secure Quality Spaces and Streets; Better Air Quality; An area that is Safe and Cared For, as well as Vibrant and Entertaining; Strong Local Networks and Community; and an effective Collective Voice and Area Identity.
Our Chief Executive Penny Alexander welcomes the ballot result “Our shared vision for the Quarter as a first class Place for People and Place for Business has received a ringing endorsement with this ballot result – businesses have once again demonstrated their strength of commitment to this area and all those working and living here or just passing through. We are delighted and looking forward to working together to make this vision a reality.”
Our Chairman, Simon Loomes, echoes Penny’s sentiments “I would like to thank the Partnership’s members for taking the time to support the long term vision for the area. I would also like to congratulate the BakerStreetQ team. Their high standards and exceptionally hard work is, and will continue to make a significant difference to Marylebone.”
We also want to share the congratulatory words received from Cllr Robert Davis MBE DL, the Deputy Leader of Westminster City Council. “Since 2013 the Baker Street Quarter Partnership has been a truly first-class ambassador for the businesses of Marylebone. Their efforts have resulted in huge investment in the area and they have been a driving force behind the Baker Street Two Way. Their commitment to shaping Marylebone as a place both for people and business has resulted in a new sense of vibrancy and community. I am therefore delighted that the future of the partnership is now secure for a further five years. I am confident that it will continue to tackle the big issues facing the area such as air quality while harnessing the opportunities that Crossrail and the transformation of Oxford Street will bring to Marylebone”.
Be sure to check out our exciting plans and vision for the next five years in our 2018 – 2023 Business Plan. We will of course be keeping you updated on our progress and how you can get involved.
Your support will ensure the Quarter is the best possible place for your staff, your business and the wider community.
