BakerStreetQ Celebrates Third Birthday

Our most recent addition is The Wonderpass made possible by TfL – we hope you’re enjoying using this cultural walkway to avoid the busy Marylebone Road. Smarter Giving has, over the last 18 months, actively engaged with over 40 member businesses to support local grass roots charities and community groups, and last year we won the British BIDs Proud Project Award for this programme. In the last three years our Ambassadors have reported and fixed over 2000 environmental issues, 1900 anti-social behaviour issues, 16,000 street cleansing issues and have welcomed 151,000 visitors to the Quarter! And in this time we’ve put on over 20 events, from networking to our vibrant Summer in the Square, Sunset Cinema and Wimbledon screenings to which we’ve welcomed a colossal 25,000 of you! We’ve welcomed 327 member employees to our Training Courses and hundreds enjoyed our Clubs, Walks, Food Markets and more! Our Governance and Management systems were recognised in our accreditation award from British BIDs and we were also thrilled to have been short listed three times over in the National Sustainable Cities Awards 2016. Our newest programme is our Business Security Zone to help members collaborate effectively to improve area-wide security and resilience.

Our focus on reducing traffic dominance and improving air quality remains. Our Smarter Recycling area-wide waste management programme has achieved a 12% reduction in waste vehicle traffic (as well as increasing recycling rates from 30% to 80% and saving members over £140k last year alone). Our Smarter Deliveries programme is funded by TfL and the GLA and working towards a 50% reduction in delivery traffic to key buildings.  The development of the Baker Street Two Way Project continues to progress to tackle dominant traffic, improve crossings and update traffic management. We also launched our Greenery Action Plan last year and are supporting efforts to establish a Low Emissions Neighbourhood for the area.
