BakerStreetQ Supports Street Population During Heatwave

In the recent July heatwave, our Street Safety Team were on patrol handing out bottles of water to the street population, and worked with our outreach service The Passage to check on vulnerable people, and offer support and advice. The Passage also kept its Resource Centre open during the day to give people respite from the heat.

Westminster City Council provided extra support by initiating its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) to protect the most vulnerable during the hot weather. Working with partners, they offered advice to protect people sleeping rough from heat exhaustion, dehydration, and sun stroke. Additionally, outreach teams increased welfare checks, provided water and gave advice on cool spaces and water fountains.
