Another Record-Breaking Smarter Giving Christmas

Thanks to your incredibly generous support, 2019’s Toy Appeal amassed a whopping 509 gifts! Over 50 members participated in the campaign which helped make a more memorable Christmas for children at four local nurseries and for young patients at St Mary’s Hospital’s COSMIC ward. Global Prime Partners were among the volunteers who got involved with COSMIC’s gift wrapping party to wrap all the lovely gifts.

Our local elderly were remembered, too, with many from the Penfold Community Hub being treated to a fabulous Christmas dinner and variety show. Partly funded by a ‘Bake Off’ at BDO, the day was given hands-on support by volunteers from Knight Frank, Market Securities, Cushman Wakefield and, again, BDO.

The Penfold Hub, our chosen charity for the year, was also the beneficiary of donations made at the mulled wine station at our Christmas Market, and from the money we saved from not sending Christmas cards. All-in-all, and including raffle tickets sales at our Christmas drinks evening, they gratefully received a phenomenal £1,500 – almost £300 more than last year!

A special thank you to King Soloman’s Academy String Quartet, who helped get Christmas in the Quarter underway by playing carols at 55 Baker Street in December, and to volunteers from HSBC who put together Christmas hampers to be distributed to local families being supported by Home-Start.
