Madame Tussauds Accessibility Improvements
2 June 2025
Madame Tussauds London has recently taken significant steps in improving accessibility for its visitors. Over a four-year renovation period, the iconic attraction on Marylebone Road has undergone a transformation, incorporating new technologies and upgraded facilities to ensure every guest enjoys their visit, from purchasing a ticket to exiting the venue.
Building modifications have included the removal of stages and plinths, and the addition of ramps, accessible counters, and wheelchair lifts. These changes mean that all waxwork figures, the gift shop, and the 1835 Champagne Bar are now fully accessible to all visitors. The team has also partnered with SignLive to better support guests who use sign language, and introduced an access pager system that allows visitors with accessibility needs to request assistance at the push of a button.
This year, Madame Tussauds launched Quiet Sessions – seven dedicated dates when the attraction is specially adapted to create a more comfortable environment for visitors who are sensitive to loud noises and bright lights. In addition, a new Changing Places toilet facility was opened last month, providing more space and the right equipment to support guests with mobility needs.
To help visitors plan their experience, Madame Tussauds London has collaborated with AccessAble to create a detailed online accessibility guide. It covers all key aspects of the attraction, including building levels, bathroom and lift locations, and overviews of different zones. This guide sits as part of our AccessAble page for the wider Baker Street and Marylebone area, offering information on accessible pedestrian routes, shops, cafés, bars, and other local attractions.
