Portman Foundation’s Rooftop Garden Donation

Back in the spring, we put a call out for donations to help regenerate The Portman Early Childhood Centre’s rooftop allotments. The Portman Foundation has generously donated a sum of £6,500 to support the project, which will provide vital outdoor space for local children and families. Users of the centre and rooftop allotments will be able to plant seeds, watch them grow and learn about health and nutrition.

The Portman Early Childhood Centre is based in the heart of nearby Church Street Ward and supports around 90 children aged 2 to 4 years old as well as their families. Users can access education, play and a broader level of support, from parenting techniques, a space for mothers and, where needed, victim support.

The Centre is just one of the many local and vital charities we support through our Smarter Giving programme. If you or your organisation would like to get involved in supporting our Quarter community, please get in touch with Kate our Smarter Giving Manager on smartergiving@bakerstreetq.co.uk. We will soon be looking for volunteers to help deliver the project. If you or your team is interested, please drop smartergiving@bakerstreetq.co.uk an email to hear more about this in a few weeks’ time.
