ACT Operational: Counter Terrorism Training

Metropolitan Police Service – Counter Terrorism Command will be delivering an ACT Operational workshop on Wednesday 5 November 2025, from 9:00 am – 12.30 pm.
This interactive, exercise-based workshop is led by Protective Security Operations from the Metropolitan Police Service and focuses on counter terrorism awareness and response.
ACT Operational, a National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) initiative, explores how participants could, should, and would respond to a terrorist incident.
The workshop is designed to raise awareness of Counter Terrorism issues, improve security culture, assist attendees with understanding the role they play and increase confidence when responding to an incident.
The workshop will cover:
- A quick quiz on Terrorism in the UK, followed by a detailed explanation of the answers
- A general discussion around the role that the audience would play in a terrorist incident
- A case study of the June 2017 London Bridge terror attack
- Group work as we work through a simulated terror attack
Learning outcomes:
- Explain: the current and emerging threat from terrorism and the impact of this to your organisation and local area
- Identify: the role you can play in deterring, disrupting, and responding to an attack
- State: What resources are available to disrupt hostile activity and increase confidence when responding to an attack
- Apply: knowledge and share best practices through an interactive tabletop exercise
