Mental Health Awareness Week – In The Quarter & At Home
26 April 2021
Mental Health Awareness Week is coming up on 10 to 16 May and there are plenty of ways to get involved, whether you’re working here in the Quarter or at home.
The theme for this year is nature so, on Monday 10 May, our Explore the Quarter’s Garden Squares virtual walk will take you on a video tour of the Quarter’s squares, exploring the architecture and horticulture as well as a little gossip and scandal, past and present, too.
Perhaps you’re feeling uncertain or anxious about returning to the workplace over the coming weeks. If so, our virtual Ease Your Way Back to the Workplace event on Wednesday 12 May with leading expert Steph Peltier will help you to learn some simple and pragmatic techniques to support your transition back to the workplace. This webinar is anchored in science. It explains how the brain and nervous system work, how emotions impact our wellbeing and how we can learn to shift them to cultivate resilience. The intention is that you will leave the workshop with a greater sense of confidence and calm around an impending return to the workplace. On 14 May, our second Mental Health First Aiders Forum takes place for Mental Health First Aiders, Ambassadors, or anyone who has a responsibility for mental health in your company. The session will be led by an experienced Mental Health First Aid Trainer who will be able to provide support by discussing case studies, writing policy and helping you to embed mental health first aid into your organisation. It will also be an excellent opportunity for you to network and share experiences with other Mental Health First Aiders in the Quarter. Book here.
Meanwhile, if you’re here in the Quarter make sure you have a stroll past Selfridges’ new window designs. Inspired by nature, the windows reflect the department store’s 2021 creative theme, Good Nature, and are Selfridges’ most sustainable to date, with the majority of materials recyclable or, when possible, recycled. The benefits of exercise to good mental health are widely known, and Selfridges have also just launched a partnership with SoulCycle to open its first Outside Studio in the UK on Edwards Mews, behind the Oxford Street store, offering fitness enthusiasts the chance to get outside, socialise and ride in a safe environment. Find out more here.
We’re looking forward the return of our outdoor events soon, including our popular food markets over the coming months. We will keep you up to date on our plans so that you can plan your days in the office around making the best of all that’s going on in the Quarter.
Our popular and well-established mental health and wellbeing sessions are run year-round, so take a look at our Events page for more ways to support yourself and find ways to take a break from work, whether you’re working from the office or at home.
