George’s Park Works

Our pocket park at the junction of Baker Street and George Street is having a face lift over the next three weeks to add more planting and seating as well as a thorough clean, from Thursday 9 September until the end of the month. We know that many of you enjoy the quiet green spaces in the Quarter and we’re always looking at new ways to improve them.

This work is possible due to a successful funding application to Westminster City Council’s Open Spaces Greener Places programme, which is working to provide attractive and accessible outdoor areas in London’s post-Covid recovery.

George’s Park offers a little green oasis that’s perfect for enjoying a spot of lunch and was created in partnership with Derwent London and The Portman Estate. In line with the original aim of the project of improving air quality and biodiversity, the plants in George’s Park are air-purifying varieties and the wood is sourced from reclaimed scaffolding boards.

Watch this space for news of other developments and additions to George’s Park – discussions are underway with the creative team behind the Wonderpass as we look to bring some colour to the area.
