DESCRIPTION:Mental Health First Aid \n13 Nov – 15 Nov \nThis three-day\, virtual course will qualify you as a Mental Health First Aider and will provide you with an in-depth knowledge to enable you to support your co-workers. The sessions will be very interactive and there will be some pre-course learning and reading (detailed below). The course will give you: \n\nAn in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing.\nPractical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues.\nConfidence to step in\, reassure and support a person in distress.\nEnhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening.\nKnowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources\, through their employer\, the NHS\, or a mix.\n\nThis course is delivered online and is made up of individual learning activities and a series of four live instructor-led sessions. Individual learning will be based on a combination of videos\, workbook activities and reading. This can be completed at your own pace in advance of each live session. The live sessions are led by an approved MHFA England Instructor and are interactive\, involving presentation of slides\, video clips\, activities\, discussion and case studies\, which you will explore as a group to embed learning. Please see the timings of the live sessions below: \n13th Nov DAY 1 – 9am – 12:20 pm live session 1 \n14th Nov DAY 2 – 9am – 12:45 pm live session 2 \n15th Nov DAY 3 – 9am – 12:45 pm live session 3 \n15th Nov DAY 3 – 2pm – 5pm live session 4 \nBefore the live sessions begin you will need to do some set up online and some pre learning which will take 1 hour. \nMental Health First Aid Training is exclusive to employees of Baker Street Quarter Partnership member businesses. Aimed at employers in central London and across the capital\, the session will help you to better understand disability employment\, and to become a more inclusive employer. The training will take place online on Tuesday 21st November\, 10:00 – 12:00. \nDisabled people have a huge amount of skills and experience to offer\, and research shows that inclusive employment practices can have real benefits for employers. DESCRIPTION:November is the mouth cancer awareness month\, and Montagu Dental is hosting a free webinar on 22nd November from 12:30 – 1:30pm to discuss the risk factors for oral cancer\, what you need to be aware of\, and how it can be prevented\, detected or managed. \nMore people in the UK die each year of mouth cancer than of cervical and testicular cancer combined and it also causes more deaths in the UK each year than road traffic accidents. We want to be able to help inform as many people as possible about oral cancer\, as late diagnosis can have a poor prognosis. \nPlease register for this free webinar here. \n \n\n\n\n\nAbout the organiser: \nDr Saul Konviser BDS MSc BSc is our lead general dentist at the Montagu Dental practice. Saul is a dedicated general dentist\, who enjoys looking after generations of families’ dental health with a focus on how their dental health impacts their general health and wellbeing. \nOriginally from Cape Town\, South Africa\, Saul completed his Bachelor’s degree in Physiology & Pharmacology at Bristol\, University of the West of England and went on to study for a Masters in International Healthy Policy at the London School of Economics\, spending time in Canada and South Africa as part of his research projects. Saul then received his Bachelors of Dental Surgery from King’s College London from when he went on to do his training within the NHS before moving into Private practice. \nSaul is also a Trustee of the charity Dental Wellness Trust\, which promotes oral health to children in the UK and abroad and he oversees the development and roll-out of supervised toothbrushing programmes in schools across England.
