SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid
DESCRIPTION:Mental Health First Aid  \nThis three-day\, virtual course will qualify you as a Mental Health First Aider and will provide you with an in-depth knowledge to enable you to support your co-workers. The sessions will be very interactive and there will be some pre-course learning and reading (detailed below). The course will give you: \n\nAn in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing.\nPractical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues.\nConfidence to step in\, reassure and support a person in distress.\nEnhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening.\nKnowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources\, through their employer\, the NHS\, or a mix.\n\nThis course is delivered online and is made up of individual learning activities and a series of four live instructor-led sessions. Individual learning will be based on a combination of videos\, workbook activities and reading. This can be completed at your own pace in advance of each live session. The live sessions are led by an approved MHFA England Instructor and are interactive\, involving presentation of slides\, video clips\, activities\, discussion and case studies\, which you will explore as a group to embed learning. Please see the timings of the live sessions below: \nDAY 1 – 9am – 12:20 pm live session 1\nDAY 2 – 9am – 12:45 pm live session 2\nDAY 3 – 9am – 12:45 pm live session 3\nDAY 3 – 2pm – 5pm live session 4 \nBefore the live sessions begin you will need to do some set up online and some pre learning which will take 1 hour. \nThis course is exclusive to employees of Baker Street Quarter Partnership member businesses. To check if your business is a member and book onto the training\, email training@bakerstreetq.co.uk. \nTerms and Conditions\nWhilst we are happy to offer all courses free of charge\, the course provider does charge us for each place. If you wish to cancel your place\, you must provide at least one week’s notice prior to the course date so we can offer your place to someone else. Upon completing the course participants will be able to know the key terms relating to health and safety and identify how the law can have an impact on health and safety in the workplace\, plus how to assess\, reduce and control risk in the workplace and how to evaluate and respond to an incident – among other crucial learning outcomes. \nWith over 60 years’ expertise and a long-standing partnership with IOSH\, the British Safety Council’s courses offer an ideal mix of up-to-date theory and practice. \nDelivered by experienced tutors\, this training course is suitable for people from a variety of industries and job roles. \nThis course is heavily discounted for our members. We are asking for a payment of £100 non-refundable deposit to ensure that all participants that sign up for this course attend. This deposit will need to be paid before the course commences.
